Update for Samsung Galaxy S I9000 XXJVU 2.3.6 with Face Unlock


 


After so much of flip flops, Samsung Electronics seems to be in the making of Value Pack for the users of Galaxy S, this Value packs is in lines with their Official announcement that it will be going to launch a Value Pac very soon. So, today we will check out an all new firmware update for Galaxy S GT I9000 which is dubbed as XXJVU 2.3.6 Firmware which is the global leaked version. This update of XXJVU 2.3.6 comes after the most stable firmware till now of Gingerbread 2.3.5 and is truly packed with a host of add on features and enhancements which we will be checking out in the due course of the article. The firmware which we will be checking out is not a fully stable value pack but is a beta version of the Value pack which got leaked.
This update brings In just one improvement compared to the last version. There were some graphic rich games like NFS Shift HD and others which when played used to heat up the phone terribly. This bug has been fixed in this version of firmware. This was an issue with the users of XWJVZ which has been addressed in this.

KIES Information:
This update of XXJVU Gingerbread 2.3.6 is not an Official firmware released via KIES tool and you need to make use of Odin to apply this update.
Also, there is no ETA on exactly when this update will be pushed via KIES tool but as soon as this update arrives, we will cover that one as well if at all there are any changes.
Currently if your device is being detected by KIES then after applying, your phone won’t be detected in Official KIES Tool

Note: Please note that this is not the Official firmware released by Samsung Electronics Ltd. and also after applying this update you will not be able to make use of KIES tool as this is the beta firmware. The only way you can install the firmware is with the Odin which we have mentioned in this article.

Please note that this applicable is only applicable for all the users of Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 only, this update should not be applied to any other phones apart from this even if they have similar phone model numbers like I9000B or I9000T etc.

Rooting Information:
  • Applying this firmware doesn’t need the device to be rooted.
  • just in case if you have already rooted the device then after applying this update the rooting access will be revoked.
  • We will soon be coming up with the Rooting article wherein you can root Galaxy S GT I9000 on XXJVU 2.3.6 Gingerbread Firmware.
So, let’s head further where we will check out on what are the things you need to follow before following the procedure so as to facilitate safer updation of firmware update.

Essential Pre Requisites:

It has been found that despite mentioning repeated times users are not following the instructions properly. WE HAVE TESTED THIS FIRMWARE AND IT’S WORKING FOR US. So, please stick to the instructions which are mentioned below.
  • Backup all your data ONLY using Backup Tools.
  • After this you need to enable the USB Debugging in your phone. “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. After this, you need to disable / close all the tools like Firewalls, Antivirus suites as these generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.

 Ensure that the KIES is updated with the latest version so as to make sure that all the device drivers are installed successfully.

Special Instructions for users on Custom ROM Firmware:
  • If you are on ANY of the custom ROM firmwares then you need to enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing  Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
  • In recovery mode, select options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and also you need to select the option of “Clear Dalvik Cache” after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which all the cache files will get deleted.
  • If you have installed any Voodoo kernels(Not For All Users.) in your phone then disable the same by applying with any of the stock ROMs like XXJVT Firmware.
So, assuming that you have followed all the instructions which are mentioned above, you are now ready to proceed further where we have mentioned the list of instructions to apply this all new Value Pack of Gingerbread XXJVU 2.3.6 firmware in your Galaxy S.

Procedure to Update Value Pack for Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
  • Download Odin3_1.85.zip & Value Pack Gingerbread 2.3.6 Package in your computer. After downloading, you need to unzip the both. In the process of unzipping it will prompt you the password, Enter the password as “sampro.pl” without inverted comas (Only For Value Pack Gingerbread 2.3.6 Package).

  • After extraction, you will find 4 files. Even if single file is missing, you need to check with the extraction or file downloading. The size of the downloaded file should be around of 225-226 MB.

  • From extracted files, open Odin3_1.85 executable file and turn Off the phone so as to enter the device in the download mode.

  • The download mode can be entered by holding down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button . Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the download mode. Please note that it’s not recommended to proceed if you are not entering into the download mode.
  • In download mode, connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. Now, once you have successfully connected the phone you will see that the ID: COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers which are required for the firmware update has been successfully updated and you are now ready to proceed to the firmware update.

  • In Odin, click on the corresponding tabs and select the files as mentioned in the below list.
DANGER: Re-Partition Option should be “UNTICKED” or else your phone may get bricked.

Files Added XXJVU
  • After selecting all the files and checking the same that right files are selected, click on “Start” to start the firmware update process.
  • Once you click on “Start”, within 10 minutes the firmware will be applied successfully and then the device will be rebooted.
  • Once you see the home screen in your phone, disconnect the connected phone and turn Off the phone so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode.
  • In recovery mode, select options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and also you need to select the option of “Clear Dalvik Cache” after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which all the cache files will get deleted.

  • Once you finish the above process, you now need to proceed to select “++++ Go Back ++++” and select the option of “Reboot System Now” for restarting the device.
Note: Just in case if you face any issues in the process of firmware update or if the process gets interrupted, you will then have to reapply the whole process of firmware update. Also, don’t forget to restore back the data which you have backed up so that you can easily use all the services like before your phone was in.
  • If you are unable to access the internet after the firmware update then you will have to re configure the APN Settings which can be done from the path Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
Congratulations, you are now on the latest Value Pack of Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware of XXJVU build. You can check the firmware from the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will get to see the firmware version as 2.3.6 XXJVU.
